The Coaching ADDvantage

Introduction

If you, or someone you love has **Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)**, then you know the chaos and frustration ADHD can cause. But, there are ways to overcome these obstacles, and you don't have to tackle them on your own.  With the help of a trained coach, people with ADHD can calm the chaos by learning how to manage their ADHD challenges, and overcome the barriers that get in the way.  In order to do this and to really take control of your ADHD, you need to know exactly what it is that you're trying to manage.

(**The official diagnosis is ADHD, however the condition is still commonly referred to as ADD.  We use both terms interchangeably**)

One thing that we know is that people with ADHD posses various strengths which unfortunately seem to get lost and buried inside because the majority of their focus is on "fixing" what isn't working, all while not giving enough attention to their areas of strength.

If you can relate to this, and the bulk of your experience tends to lean towards focusing your energy on the negative side, then this could be a good time to start exploring the alternate options you have in order to change this.

If you've been diagnosed by a physician, and have been prescribed medication, then you probably know the positive effects that the medication can have in limiting distractions, and helping your ability to focus and sustain attention.

However, many people with ADHD tend to fall into the mindset that taking medication alone is enough.  For some, it might be, however the majority tend to face the rude awakening that their old habits tend to die hard, and even though the medication helps smooth this over, they still seem to be at the same place in their life as they were before they started taking medication.  Simply put, they must do something on top of just taking medication to overcome their ADHD barriers.

For optimum results, the best way to make long lasting changes is to implement a system that supports a particular area of interest to you.  By doing so, you're working within a positive framework rather than wasting too much time and energy trying to fix an area of disinterest.  In order to do this effectively starts by learning about your own ADHD, and exploring the strengths you already posses, and then developing your own strategy which encompasses these strengths.

This is where working with a coach can really fast-forward the process so that you don't have to do it alone and can really challenge yourself to take some big steps forward.  All it takes is the desire on your part, and your willingness to take action.
